CIP Career Program

Career Support Services

As a student at CIP, you will have the opportunity to enhance your job skills through career skills training as well and internship and job placement.

As part of your career skills training, you will receive instruction on the following: self-presentation, communication skills, self-awareness, defining your interests, effective time-management, exploration of careers, networking and appropriate social interaction.

Understanding your learning differences and how it relates to job success is also an essential component needed to optimize your career experience. Going through the process of career exploration, developing a resume, practicing interviews helps to prepare you for finding a career.

Once these important skills have been developed, you will be ready for a placement.

As a student with an internship or job, you will also profit from meeting with other internship students for discussion and skill development.

This group will discuss various topics and share their experiences, areas for improvement and what they have learned about themselves during the internship process.

As a student with an internship or job, you will be expected to perform as a responsible employee.

C-STEP (Career Skills Training and Employment Program)

At the Berkshire Center, students can take advantage of C-STEP (additional cost). Through this program students receive the support services and skills instruction they need to become self-motivated, self-sufficient, young professionals that can forge ahead and succeed in developing a clear objective for their career paths and be successful negotiators in the world of work.

The goal of the program is to enable our students to develop self-advocacy and motivation so that they may take their places in the adult workforce, contributing to society and fulfilling their own potential.

Both organizations provide a variety of employee training and services such as basic and comprehensive assessments, situational assessments, additional skills and interest testing, individual job exploration and counseling, group formats, job placement, and job coaching.

CIP will assist you in organizing all correspondence with these agencies.

Community Supper at the Congregational Church

Community Service

At CIP, you will be offered the challenge to see yourself as part of your community. By contributing to the community and helping others, you will promote personal growth by giving of yourself to others.

Helping others can help you find out what direction you want to pursue vocationally. It is also an avenue to help you acquire valuable work skills and to make contacts that can enhance your career opportunities.
